About the Role:
We are looking for an innovative and compassionate English & Humanities Teacher to design, implement, and adapt engaging curriculum for students with varying abilities and learning styles. The successful candidate will have experience in supporting students with additional learning needs and will be able to use their skills to create a learning environment that encourages growth, self-expression, and academic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver tailored English and Humanities lessons to meet the individual learning needs of students.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and participation.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to support the holistic development of students.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students and their families.
  • Differentiate instruction to cater for diverse abilities, ensuring all students achieve their personal best.
  • Participate in school activities and contribute to the development of the school’s culture and values.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (Bachelor of Education or equivalent).
  • Full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Proven experience in teaching English and Humanities, preferably in a Special Education or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of teaching strategies for students with special learning needs.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Desirable:

  • Experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), intellectual disabilities, or other learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge of relevant educational frameworks and strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
